My name is Daniel. I was an English teacher in Seoul, South Korea, and am now a writer who has

published four books including South Korea: Our Story by Daniel Nardini.

                              The news that we do not always want to hear, or the news that is not

always reported, is the news that is what we in America call "falls through the cracks." Not reported

in the Korea Times or even in the Korea herald is the fact that Kim Jong-un has sent assasination

squads against North Korean defectors to try and kill them. One tiny example of this is Park Sang-hak,

the leader of Fighter for a Free North Korea. Then there is the recent prevention of North Korean

defectors from being allowed to freely launch balloons into North Korea by the South Korean police.

Whatever peace talks there may be today, this does not and should not mean that people are denied

the freedom to tell the truth to their fellow country people in North Korea who are totally denied the

truth. I also find it ironic that the same Moon administration that had no problem using the police

to stop an anti-North Korea group from sending up balloons does not use police to stop the

blockade by anti-American protesters from blocking the THAAD missile defense site. Just as ironic

is the fact that North Korea has condemned the THAAD missile defense system and wants it removed.

As long as North Korea still has nuclear weapons and has not turned them over yet, so why should

the U.S. military remove the THAAD missile defense system? Besides, THAAD is defense only, and

can do NO harm to North Korea. But then, this is the news that seems to fall through the cracks in

the great illusion that there will be peace on the Korean peninsula.
